Part 80 of the David Pawson 'Unlocking the Bible' Podcast series
In continuing his talk on Paul’s 2 letters to the Thessalonians, David Pawson shows why their hope was shaky instead of being certain. Paul gave them understanding of the 2nd coming. Paul shows that if believers are alert, sober and watching, the 2nd Coming will not come as a surprise. We need to watch for the signs we’ve been given of his coming. He has advice for the church members – 3 things they should not be and 5 things they should. There was democracy in Thessalonica, and it had crept into the church whereas the church should be ruled by the Holy Spirit via Spirit filled leaders. In the 2nd letter, he has similar subjects, but he has obviously heard bad news of them now, and has to be harsher than in his first epistle. They are being persecuted so there is encouragement as well.

So what did Jesus mean when he said to the Thief on the cross ”this very day you will be with me in Paradise. In the Old Testament the dead went to a place called Sheol , Jonah called out from the realm of the dead - Jonah was fully conscious Jesus was transfigured into a spiritual form and met Moses and Elijah - how could he do that if Moses and Elijah are dead . Moses and Elijah are not dead, Just as Jesus is not dead - they are very much alive but not with physical bodies Jesus went to preach to those who died in the time of Noah - how can this be true of you cease to exist when you die ? - when you die your body goes back to dust - but not your spirit. When you die you become disembodied, awaiting for Christ to return, when we will all get resurrected bodies - - the righteous will rise first - but everyone will rise to be judged Correct you do not go to heaven when you die, neither do you go to - well not just yet and what is more when Christ returns he will have created a new heaven and new earth and he will come down from heaven to dwell with his saints on the new earth ... that is what the Bible teaches

David contradicts himself... He says ”the dead will rise first” (meaning they will be raised from their graves when Christ comes), and rise in the air to meet Christ - but then David goes on to say that they will descend with Jesus at the 2nd Coming! So which one is it? Are you risen from the grave when Christ comes OR are you alive and in heaven, and descend with Christ? The Bible is VERY clear on this : you are raised from the dead when Christ comes. You DO NOT come down from heaven.

How can you possibly say that all Christians are coming back to Earth when Christ comes. This is TOTALLY false theology! When you die you REMAIN in the grave ! Your thoughts perish and you cease to exist. Your ability to live (breath) returns to God. YOU DO NOT GO TO HEAVEN (OR ) WHEN YOU DIE! That is a lie. The Bible is VERY clear on this topic. The Bible says that when Christ returns the graves will open and the RIGHTEOUS DEAD will be raised to life. That is what the Bible teaches.
